Whoa, hold on. Is Google’s new image model the Photoshop killer everyone’s been waiting for?
I just saw an incredible post from Tianyu Xu where he put the brand new Gemini 2.5 Flash Image model to the test, and you need to see his results.
He focused on the most hyped features, editing and blending, to see if it lives up to the hype. Here’s what he discovered.
✨ The Good Stuff (The Strengths)
Tianyu Xu found the new model is a major upgrade and really shines in a few areas:
- ✅ High character consistency across images.
- ✅ Awesome at replicating elements from the input photos.
- ✅ Can show the same object from different angles.
- ✅ Noticeably higher image quality than its predecessor.
- ✅ Super fast and easy to use.
❌ The Not-So-Good (The Weaknesses)
But it’s not perfect. Tianyu Xu also pointed out some key areas where it falls short:
- ❌ You can’t control the aspect ratio.
- ❌ The image editing can look a bit like a “copy and paste” job.
- ❌ Character resolution drops after editing.
- ❌ It’s not great at displaying long text accurately in images.
🤔 So, What’s the Verdict?
According to Tianyu Xu, Gemini 2.5 Flash Image is NOT a replacement for Photoshop.
BUT, he says it’s a fantastic tool for rapid concept testing, building AI workflows, and cranking out social media content. I think that’s a super valuable insight!
💡 Tianyu Xu’s Pro-Tips
He even dropped a few tips to save you time:
- – Use close-up shots of your characters or objects.
- – Avoid trying to generate images with a lot of text.
- – If you get stuck, just start a new chat.
