Unlock ChatGPT’s New Hidden Features

I feel like ChatGPT drops new features every week, and it’s tough to keep up with it all! I just stumbled upon a video from an AI professional that highlights some incredible, under-the-radar updates that are total game-changers.

Here are the underrated features the YouTuber broke down:

🔎 Supercharge Your Research with Connectors

This is HUGE. The creator showed how you can now connect ChatGPT’s Deep Research tool to your personal apps like Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, and even Gmail. When you run a search, it doesn’t just scan 100 websites, it also digs through YOUR own documents.

The YouTuber demonstrated this by connecting their Dropbox, and ChatGPT pulled info from their old scripts right alongside web results.

I think this is amazing for creating a personalized research assistant that knows your context.

🤖 Choose Your Model for Custom GPTs

Remember Custom GPTs? Well, they just got a serious upgrade. This innovator revealed that when you build or use a Custom GPT, you’re no longer stuck with the default model. You can now choose a specific model like GPT-4o mini or the more powerful reasoning models.

This lets you tailor your GPTs for specific tasks like coding or complex logic. It’s a small change with massive implications.

📂 Easily Add Chats to Projects

This next one is a simple but brilliant quality-of-life improvement. The person who shared it pointed out how you can now add any of your existing chats directly to a Project. No more starting from scratch inside a project! Just find a useful chat, click the three dots, and hit “Add to Project.” It’s perfect for organizing your work on the fly.

🎨 One-Click Image Restyling

This is for all you DALL-E fans. The expert showed off the new “Styles” feature for image generation. After creating an image, you can click on it and apply a bunch of pre-set styles with one click. Some of the styles the YouTuber showcased were:

  • Cyberpunk
  • Anime
  • Retro Cartoon
  • Coloring Book
  • Synth Wave

It’s an incredibly fast way to get a totally different vibe from your original prompt.

🎤 Record Your Meetings Directly in the App

This one blew me away. If you have the ChatGPT desktop app, there’s now a “Record Mode.” The creator showed how you can use it to record your computer’s audio. This is fantastic for meetings! Instead of inviting an AI bot to your Zoom call, you just let ChatGPT record in the background. It transcribes the whole thing, and you can immediately start chatting with the transcript for notes and insights.

📊 Bonus Tip: Visual Dashboards

Finally, the YouTuber tested out the “Canvas” mode to turn a boring spreadsheet into a visual, interactive dashboard. While ChatGPT did an okay job, this industry pro also showed that Claude’s “Artifacts” feature currently does it much better, creating a more polished and filterable dashboard from the same file. A great tip to know which tool is best for the job!

This is just my quick breakdown. For the full deep-dive and to see these features in action, make sure to watch the original video from the creator, so go check it out!
