Unlock Veo 3’s Multilingual Powers

Whoa, stop scrolling! I just saw this incredible post from Tianyu Xu, and he’s cracked the code on making Veo 3 characters speak other languages. This is a game-changer.

He figured out a simple trick to get his avatar to speak Mandarin, and it’s brilliant. I had to share his method with you all.

Here’s the simple 3-step process Tianyu Xu laid out:

  • 💡 Step 1: In your prompt, explicitly tell Veo 3 which language the character is speaking (e.g., “…and says in Mandarin:”).
  • ✍️ Step 2: Write the actual dialogue script in your target language.
  • 🚀 Step 3: Tianyu recommends using the Gemini/Veo API, as he found it has a higher success rate than the Flow UI.

Of course, he’s also transparent about the bumps in the road. Here’s what to watch out for based on his testing:

  • 📌 Flow Rejection: The standard Flow interface might reject prompts in other languages, especially if they don’t use the Latin alphabet.
  • 📌 Audio Glitches: Sometimes, the audio just doesn’t generate. It’s a known issue he’s seen in both Flow and Gemini.
  • 📌 Weird Accents: The accent might come out a bit unexpected depending on the prompt’s context.

He also used this test to push Veo 3’s facial expressions, and his avatar’s acting is pretty impressive!

This is just my quick breakdown. For the full scoop, example prompt, and to see his video in action, you have to check out the original post by Tianyu Xu!
