Whoa, I just saw this and had to share.
Ever tried to get an AI video character to speak a language other than English? It’s been a real challenge, right? Well, your mind is about to be blown.
I just saw this incredible post from the brilliant Tianyu Xu, and he’s cracked the code for making Veo 3 characters multilingual!
Here’s the simple 3-step trick he discovered:
- 🗣️ 1. Tell Veo the language: In the prompt, you have to explicitly state which language the character is speaking. For example, “…and says in Mandarin:”
- ✍️ 2. Write the dialogue: Right after that, just type the actual script in your target language.
- 🚀 3. Use the API: Tianyu found that using the Gemini/Veo API gives you a much higher success rate than the standard Flow interface.
Of course, he’s also transparent about a few bugs he found along the way:
- ↳ Flow might reject prompts that aren’t in the Latin alphabet.
- ↳ Sometimes, the audio just won’t generate.
- ↳ You might get some… unexpected accents depending on the context.
He was also testing facial expressions in his example and was pretty happy with his avatar’s acting chops. This is a game-changer for creating global content!
Seriously, go check out the full, original post from Tianyu Xu to see his video example and get all the details from the source!
