Weatherhead’s Philip Cola explores new research on artificial intelligence, robotics, and Alzheimer’s

AI-driven robots may soon serve as in-home caregivers. Consumer Affairs reports that Philip Cola, a professor at the Weatherhead School of Management and an associate professor at the School of Medicine, discussed emerging studies on how artificial intelligence and robotics can assist older adults with early-stage Alzheimer’s. He stressed that the primary focus is on managing care rather than finding a cure. As cognitive decline progresses, reliable support and social interaction become paramount, he explained.

The robot, Ruyi, aims to foster independence and help ease the workload of caregivers.
