Most of us are using AI assistants the wrong way! We type in lazy, random questions and then get frustrated by the lazy, random answers we get back.
I just saw this awesome post that nails the problem. The mind behind it explained that the secret to unlocking actually useful results isn’t about finding a better AI, but about building better prompts designed to solve specific, real-life problems.
I was so impressed by how simple and effective these structured prompts were. The original poster shared a whole list, but here are three that really stood out to me.
💡 The Decision Filter
Instead of asking “Should I rent or buy a car?”, the author suggests a smarter approach. The prompt asks the AI to list the top 3 pros and cons for each option and then provide a decision framework, not the final answer. This forces you to think critically while the AI does the heavy lifting on research.
📌 The “Explain Like I’m Busy” Prompt
This one is my favorite. How often do you need to understand a complex topic fast? The post’s author shared a prompt that asks for an explanation in under 200 words, with no jargon, and ending with one actionable tip. It’s perfect for cutting through the noise and getting straight to the point.
✅ The Brainstorm Buddy
Staring at a blank page is the worst. This prompt turns ChatGPT into a creative partner. The expert asks it for 10 fresh ideas on a topic, but the key is asking for them to be grouped by theme. This gives you structured, usable angles instead of a random list of ideas.
These are just three of the seven incredible prompts the person who shared it detailed. The full post has even more, including a travel planner and a text polisher. Go check out the full post to see them all!
